Bose has announced the launch of the Bose® Portable Home Speaker, a multifaceted, compact speaker integrating Bluetooth, voice control, and 360-degree sound with battery power.
The compact speaker which will be available from September 19th in Luxe Silver and Triple Black boasts the most bass above any other smart-portable speaker in its size. Offering twelve hours of battery life and no wires, the smart audio device uses WiFi to operate built-in voice systems of Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. With the new speaker, you can access playlists, smart devices, news, weather, and podcasts.
Bose’s latest addition is water-resistant with an IPX4 rating for enduring rain, spills, and drops. Measuring 4″ across and 7.5″ high the speaker is set to retail for $349. It can charge through a standard USB port or a cradle charger, which is sold separately and can be purchased for $29.
Additional features include a mic-off feature, which cuts power to the microphones, eliminating any possibility you can be listened to or recorded — along with power, volume, play/pause and skip tracks, wake or dismiss virtual assistants, and Bluetooth source.
The Bose Music App makes set-up effortless. You can browse content, switch music services, create a multi-room system with other Bose smart speakers and soundbars, and download software for new features.
Ben Burns, senior product manager for Bose speakers spoke of the companies latest smart speaker, saying “Every Bose smart speaker is Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled, but the Portable is the first to offer a rechargeable battery — along with a shortlist of features everyone wants and loves. We lived with it like anyone else would — with our families and friends, away from work — to make sure it was the kind of product we wanted to use, day after day. It was. And we think people who take it home will feel the same way.”
Later this year, Bose is set to release the Bose SoundLink speaker for synchronized, voice-controlled audio, a welcome addition for the millions of SoundLink Micro, Color, Mini, and Revolve owners around the world.
