Google Maps Reaches 5 Billion Downloads on Play Store

The Google Maps app has reached 5 billion downloads on the Play Store.

YouTube was this first to hit 5 billion downloads back in December 2018. Shortly after, Google Play Services also hit this milestone, although this could be discounted as Play Services hasn’t actually been manually downloaded that many times, rather when someone logs into an Android device with their
Google account, Google Play marks the pre-installed apps as downloads. So this figure only indicates that there are over five billion devices with Play Services pre-installed.

Google Maps also used to be pre-installed on devices although now it is an optional install. The 5 billion mark is still a significant milestone, however.

Other apps following in the lead include Google Play Games, Google Photos, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies & TV, which have all passed the 1 billion download mark.
